Papaya

Originating from Tropical America, its cultivation dates back from before Christopher Columbus’s discovery of America.From there the Spanish navigators spread the papaya to other areas in the world. Its scientific name is "Carica Papaya”. The fruit is a berry which is fleshy and spherical. Usually variable in size within five angles and it is an orange colour when ripe. Inside it contains a milky orange flesh with numerous round black seeds which are held in the central cavity. The numerous seeds it contains are flat and have a pulpy endosperm. The fruit is very pleasant on the palate and is both juicy and cooling.
