Originating from a mutation of the nectarine tree, its scientific name is "Prunus Persica var. Platerina”. Currently world production is concentrated around the Mediterranean, with Spain being the principal exporting country of Saturn nectarines.It is a round flattened fruit of medium size with a smooth firm skin that has a spectrum of colours. These start with a base of light yellow with a red over colour ranging from intense reds all over. It is very elegant, depending on the variety. The flesh has a high consistency and is consistent in its white or yellow colour, depending again on the variety. Its aromatic and juicy, yet crunchy flesh has an excellent flavour and is pleasing to the palate. It also has an intense aftertaste.
